Spotify

Based on an actual confidential project, this case study replicates the essence and core functionalities. The purpose of the project is to enable creator economy. Creators can set a price and sell them for people to subscribe to. From the user side, there needs to be clear ways to distinguish and navigate between the free and paid contents, smooth purchase flow and the ability to track their purchased podcasts.

The scope & challenge

Shaping the business model for the monetisation was the biggest hurdle for this project. The initial approach was to allow users to purchase by entering a credit card or PayPal as the payment method. As the project progressed, we switched to a more creator-centric model by using a subscription system - where users would get access to all of the creators' contents for as long as they are subscribed to them. After further development and discussions, this was projected to not be economically viable enough so what we ended up with is a system where users need to purchase token packs to spend on the contents.
